Bumblebee Toy

This toy is the reason Camaro sales are up? Serious?!?

There’s no question 2010 Chevy Camaros are flying off dealer lots, often above the sticker price!  Dealers across the country are reporting that Camaro sales are on fire.

And many analysts are crediting big Camaro sales with the 2010 being featured as the character Bumblebee in the new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie.  That may be true.

But may it also be possible the Camaro is selling well because… well… it’s a Camaro?

And more importantly, isn’t it entirely possible the $23k sticker price is more affordable, than, say, every other sports car GM makes?  The Pontiac Solstice starts about $2k more than the Camaro.  The Saturn Sky over $5k more.  The Saab 9-3 SportCombi almost $10k more.  The Corvette Coupe about $27k more.  And on and on, eventually leading up to the Corvette ZR1 with a starting price tag of almost $107,000!

So really, is it that Camaro sales are up, or that all other GM sports car sales are down, as people can only afford the entry-level muscle car?
