CBS is seriously trying to sell a show that’s 30 years old — why is it surprising that their overall strategy is silly? |
CBS and Sprint acknowledged today that they are simply following random business breadcrumbs by putting together a deal that would broadcast at least some CBS shows on Sprint mobile phones.
This deal means that people who are paying far too much for their cell phones can now pay much more to watch television shows that are fluff at best, on much, much tinier screens, with terrible and often inaudible (especially in public) sound sources, while they are in distracting public places.
“This is brilliant news!” extolled Shawn Mullaney, an unemployed HTML programmer who lives with his parents. “In my home town, I’m a Brady Bunch trivia guru. Being able to prove it in real time on my cell phone gives me the tools I need to prove I’m right, especially when playing D&D at a friend’s house when I’m not near my computer.”
When asked why CBS didn’t opt to create original content to extend the experience for current viewers, the CBS auto-attendant wouldn’t respond. Attempts to get answers from anyone else at CBS about that question also went unanswered.
